What Are Porcelain Inlays?

Porcelain inlays are hard; custom manufactured inserts that are usually placed in larger cavities and areas where there is less tooth structure. Any decayed area of your tooth is removed and then a mold of your tooth is taken, captured digitally, and sent to a dental lab where a restoration is made from porcelain, which typically takes about 2-3 weeks to custom manufacture.  During that time, a temporary inlay is placed on your tooth. During your follow-up visit, the permanent inlay will be placed into your mouth, set with dental cement and polished, so that your tooth will look completely natural.
